Opici Wines is an importer and producer with of fine wines, artisanal spirits, and craft beers from around the globe. The portfolio consists of more than 50 brands offering wines for every palate and budget, each of which represents a great value to the consumer.
Founded in 1913 and re-established upon the repeal of Prohibition in 1934, it was not until 2010 that Opici Wines began a major transformation. With long-standing, market-leading Italian brands like Cesari and Carpineto as the foundation, Argentina (Ruca Malen), Spain (Vivanco) and France (Domain Roux).
The company strengthened its position in the industry through the creation of Market Street Spirits in 2014, a spirits division which produces and imports hand-crafted spirits and beers from around the world.
Opici Wines also launched several proprietary brands, such as Auspicion and Julia James from California and LaLuca from Italy, adding to our production portfolio which includes classic selections under the Opici label, such as Homemade Barberone, Burgundy, and Chianti.
Their portfolio is represented nationally through our distributor partners.
From its inception, Opici has been family-owned and -operated. Although the fourth-generation is now at the helm, “American Wine Legend” Hubert Opici remains actively involved.

George Palmieri Background:
George is the Director of Education for the Opici Family and Manages the New York Metro Market.
Having grown up in a restaurant family business, the passion of food and wine was instilled in him at a young age.
He started working in the restaurant business at catering halls in Brooklyn while getting his BA in Marketing Management. He knew the business of food and wine was where he wanted to build his career. After earning his Bachelor’s degree, George went to work with his family’s business at Le Cirque restaurant where he developed much of his knowledge in many different capacities for the food and wine business.
By working his way through all channels of the restaurant business for roughly 15 years; his enthusiasm for the industry lead into wine imports. Working at several of the top wine and spirit importing companies in the U.S., he eventually became an Italian Wine Specialist. He held this position for eight years, enabling him to promote his Italian heritage.
The global portfolios that George has worked with allowed him to gain a vast understanding and appreciation of all wine growing regions throughout the world. He has gained several certificates of merit from the likes of the Kevin Zraly’s Wine School, Sterling Wine & Spirits Program & Society of Wine Educators. He has conducted countless wine seminars educating consumers, sommeliers, sales teams and restaurant staff in order to share his insights of the industry with others.
