Join us at Salon 21, a fine art and interior design studio in SoHo, for a private viewing of their latest exhibition, an artist talk, wine tasting from a local supplier, and delicious bites.
Salon 21 opened its first brick-and-mortar in New York City to provide curated art experiences in a non-traditional setting. Salon 21 has been featured in Artnet, WWD, Designboom, and Alex's apartment has been in Architectural Digest and other publications.
Founded by Alexandra Bass, CC '18, Salon 21 offers a new way of thinking about art collecting and interior curating.
The space, a landmarked SoHo loft (52 Greene Street), acts as a modern-day incarnation of Gertrude Stein's legendary Parisian apartment, hosting rotating art exhibitions.
With degrees from Columbia University and the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, as well as experience working at major auction houses and blue chip galleries in New York, Alex is eager to open SALON 21 in New York to bring back the conversation, socialization, and accessibility that is currently missing from the art world.
At its core, SALON 21 embodies a distinct atmosphere where an ever-changing array of exhibitions showcase the work of emerging artists handpicked by Alex herself. Complementing this artistic haven is a meticulously curated showroom that serves as an example of SALON 21’s design aesthetic. Alex firmly upholds the belief that art should be lived with and SALON 21's space exemplifies this philosophy by providing visitors with the opportunity to view art in this manner.
Lucía Rodríguez Pérez is a visual artist living and working in Brooklyn, originally from Chile. Her exhibition at Salon 21 opens October 4th and runs through the end of the month. Her paintings explore a tension between abstraction and representation, and are heavily influenced by color theory.
We look forward to welcoming you to an evening of great art, food, drink and conversation.
