Columbia @ Home - Making Decisions in Uncertain Times

So much of our daily lives now seems to fall into the “unknown” category: Is it safe to go to work? Should you cancel your vacation? What about going out for a slice of pizza? Usually, we differentiate between big and small decisions, but in a COVID-19 world, small decisions can carry big risks. How do we assess risk, especially when anxiety overshadows our decisions?

Columbia Business School Adjunct Professor Cheryl Strauss Einhorn ’92JRN speaks with Columbia Alumni Association (CAA) Board Chair Keith Goggin ’91JRN about complex problem solving, as well as takeaways from her books Problem Solved, which covers personal and professional decision-making, and Investing In Financial Research, which is about business, economic, and investment decisions.

Ahead of the event, you can order a copy of Strauss Einhorn’s books or watch her TED talk.
